John Lloyd Young Returns to Jersey Boys as ‘Frankie Valli’

On July 3, the Broadway company of Jersey Boys will welcome back John Lloyd Young, who created the role of Frankie Valli in the original Broadway company and on the Grammy-winning, platinum cast album. John Lloyd Young’s first performance is Tuesday, July 3rd at 7 p.m.

Young played Marius in Les Miserables at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and guest starred on “Glee.” Offstage, Young is a successful artist. His pieces sell at East and West Coast fine art galleries, have raised tens of thousands for charity, and a JLY piece hangs at L.A.’s famed restaurant, Spago. Jersey Boys Becomes 19th Longest-Running Show in Broadway History With 2,718 Performances

Jersey Boys will become the 19th longest-running show in Broadway history, following the performance on Sunday, June 3. Jersey Boys surpass My Fair Lady with 2,718 performances on June 3.

Jersey Boys, the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical, opened on Broadway on November 6, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time.

Jersey Boys is the recipient of the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Musical. Tony Winner John Lloyd Young Returns to Broadway’s Jersey Boys July 3

The actor and singer who won a Tony Award in 2006 for his role as Frankie Valli will rejoin the Jersey Boys Broadway show from July 3 through Sept. 30. He is the lead singer on the Grammy-winning, certified-Platinum Jersey Boys original Broadway cast album. Since leaving the show, Young, who also sang on the original cast album, played Marius in” Les Miserables” at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and guest starred on “Glee.”

Jersey Boys Broadway Box Office – Update for Week April 08, 2012

Jersey Boys Broadway grossed $942,780 and had a 91.6% attendance rate, about 2.0% less than the previous week. The 39 shows on the boards grossed $27,986,522, about 14.90% more that of the previous week’s totals.

The start of April school vacations, family and tourist demand resulted in a big hit for the Broadway shows. As a result several of the shows – “Wicked,” “The Lion King,” “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” and “The Book of Mormon” – brought in huge sums per person on average, according to weekly box office data published on Monday. Wicked, Lion King and The Book Of Mormon grosses crossed $2 million sales last week.

Over all, Broadway musicals and plays grossed $28 million last week, compared to $23.8 million a week earlier and $22.1 million for the comparable week last season.
