Jersey Boys 17th Longest-Running Show in Broadway History

Jersey Boys became the 17th longest-running show in Broadway history with the Wednesday’s (July 17) night performance. Jerse Boys musical surpasses Tobacco Road with 3,183 performances, becoming the 17th longest-running show in Broadway history.

Jersey Boys opened on Broadway on November 6, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre. The show has been seen by over 18 million people worldwide (as of July, 2013) and is currently playing in New York; Las Vegas; London; Capetown, South Africa; in cities across the U.S. on a National Tour and will open soon in The Netherlands.

Jersey Boys is the recipient of the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Musical.

Tony Winner John Lloyd Young Again Return to Jersey Boys Broadway

Tony winner John Lloyd Young once again will return to the role of Frankie Valli in Broadway’s Jersey Boys on January 11, 2013 for a limited engagement. This marks Young’s third engagement as Valli. He originated the role in 2005, and returned to the musical for a three-month run on Broadway this summer July 3 through Sept. 30.

He will replace Jarrod Spector, who exits the production on December 30. Till the time John Lloyd Young joins the cast, the role will be played by Dominic Scaglione Jr. for performances from December 31 through January 10.

Jersey Boys musical is based on the life story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, and chronicles the lives of a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time.

Cast also includes Matt Bogart as Nick Massi, Drew Gehling as Bob Gaudio and Jeremy Kushnier as Tommy DeVito. Jarrod Spector will again take the role of Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys Broadway on October 2 at the August Wilson Theater as Tony winner John Lloyd Young will play his final performance on September 30. The Jersey Boys Broadway cast will also joined by Drew Gehling and Jeremy Kushnier on October 9 as Bob Gaudio and Tommy DeVito, respectively as Quinn VanAntwerp and Andy Karl scheduled to depart on October 7.

Young played Marius in Les Miserables at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and guest starred on “Glee.” Offstage, Young is a successful artist. His pieces sell at East and West Coast fine art galleries, have raised tens of thousands for charity, and a JLY piece hangs at L.A.’s famed restaurant, Spago.
