Here is the Sneak Peek of the Jon Boydon’s Interview on Broadway.com:

You’ve done two and a half years in Jersey Boys and counting: You must be very happy there.
At the moment, I’m [signed on] till March 2013, and I did two years on We Will Rock You previously. But, you know, to be in a position where you contemplate staying on for a third year just goes to show the draw that our show has and, for performers, that it has such a rich book. You don’t feel saturated or bored the way you might in another show.

Maybe you’ll become the London equivalent to someone like Howard McGillin, who played the title role in The Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times.
Let’s hope we have that long a run [laughs]!

How did the role of Tommy fall into place for you?
Once I started toying with the accent and the voice and the physicality, it all began to make sense—and it helped that I turned up at the audition wearing a good suit!

You’ve clearly developed a rock ‘n’ roll niche for yourself on the West End.
I do seem to have got away with not doing any serious musical theater, though I’m not sure that’s really my thing anyway. I haven’t trained and I don’t have that history of the Les Miz/Phantom/Cameron Mackintosh-musical vocal sound. I just kind of do what I do—a lot of the time with a guitar on my lap! [Laughs.]

Jersey Boys London Extends Booking Period to 8 April 2012

Jersey Boys London Production has increased its booking period by 12 months – tickets are now on sale to 8 April 2012.

Jersey Boys opened at the Prince Edward Theatre 18 Mar 2008, following previews from 28 Feb 2008 to reasonable notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, “Slickly animated production.” THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, “It has a quality you rarely find in musicals – gritty honesty – as well as the best collection of pop hits since Mamma Mia!” THE GUARDIAN says, “A pleasant, forgettable night out; no more, no less.”

Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe.

The London production is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team: Directed by Des McAnuff , designed by Klara Zieglerova, lighting by Howell Binkley, choreography by Sergio Trujillo, costumes by Jess Goldstein, sound by Steve Canyon Kennedy and projections design by Michael Clark. The orchestrations are by Steve Orich and the music direction and vocal arrangements by Ron Melrose.

The story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi – and how this group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American and International pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were thirty. Their songs include ‘Sherry’, ‘Walk Like A Man’, ‘December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)’, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘My Eyes Adored You’, ‘Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got)’.

BWW Interviews Jersey Boys Producers – Michael David and Lauren Mitchell

Category: Uncategorized — Tags: , – admin @ 12:59 am

BroadwayWorld has posted a review with Jersey Boys producers Michael David and Lauren Mitchell! Take a look their Answers:

BWW: Hi, both, and welcome to London! Did you have a good time at the Oliviers?

Michael David: We did! It’s so unlike the Tonys. That’s ours – it’s in a theatre, it’s televised, you’re in your seats…
Lauren Mitchell: There are 5000 people and you’re miles away ftrom anyone You know…
Michael David: That has its benefits. What’s so great for us is being at a table with a glass of wine, and not everything you say is memorialised. We had a wonderful time – nothing at stake. It was like going to someone else’s opening.

BWW: Jersey Boys has done well in the What’s On Stage awards previously, which are voted for by the audience – would you agree that there’s something in the show that just grabs people and entices them back?
MD: You make these things and hope that it’s a good idea and that other people will like it, but you never think it’ll multiply and resonate as much as it has. We couldn’t be more grateful. And yes, you’ve hit on it. Its biggest strength is its word of mouth. We’ve been fortunate with the notices [reviews] but you rely on the audience, which is what it was from the beginning. We were imagining the worst in terms of critical response – it’s the only way to do it. Even during previews we saw that it was gripping the audience.
LM: People were bringing their friends back.
MD: And when we’re touring, you can’t wait for the show to start – the show is its own best advertisement.

BWW: What do you have planned next?
MD: We’re looking in two directions – reach out north and west into Europe from here in London; there’ll be another tour in the States too. And then in Australia, we’ll go to Sydney and tour the bigger cities there and in New Zealand. The natural thing from there would be to head north to Australasia. But even articulating it I feel really stupid! We’ve had hits and tours, but this…
LM: Just two years on Broadway would have been brilliant.
MD: We couldn’t feel more blessed.
