PostHeaderIcon Jersey Boys Run at 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle Through May 04, 2013

Jersey Boys is currently performing at 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101 and continue through May 04, 2013.

Jersey Boys reveals in I-didn’t-know-that detail how they came together and mostly stayed together. Suffice to say they would have been juicy material if they were getting their start today.

The show also entertains thoroughly throughout its two-plus hours with spot-on performances of all the Four Seasons’ standards, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” The singing is superb, led by Brad Weinstock as Valli (Weinstock will take the matinees off; even a voice like his needs rest).

Jersey Boys is the story of runaway egos, Catholic upbringings undone by the sexual revolution, and the singular falsetto of Frankie Valli (Brad Weinstock). With songs and score by original band member Bob Gaudio (former Seattleite Jason Kappus), this 2005 jukebox musical offers the expected hits—“Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” etc. Then there are tales of sudden fame, warring egos, drugs, divorce, and too much time on the road. Ambitious guitarist Tommy (Colby Foytik) initially finances the group via loan sharks (keeping a portion for himself). Once they reach the Top 40, inevitably the mob comes looking to settle old scores.

The highlight of Jersey Boys, originally directed by Des McAnuff, is the 1967 hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Jersey Boys musical is the story of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi and how four blue-collar kids made pop music history.
