The cast also includes Miles Aubrey, Erik Bates, Jared Brashaw, Cara Cooper, Ken Dow, John Edwards, Russell Fischer, Katie O’Toole, Joe Payne, Jessica Rush, Dominic Scaglione Jr., Nathan Scherich, Sara Schmidt and Taylor Sternberg.

Jersey Boys is currently performing in a new home Le Theatre Des Arts Paris Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. In 2008 the show opened at the Palazzo. After a successful run, the four blue-collar kids packed their bags, hit the road and headed west to Paris Las Vegas. “Jersey Boys” opened at its new location in March.
For those who haven’t seen it, “Jersey Boys” takes audiences into the lives of Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi and Bob Gaudio and their rise to stardom as The Four Seasons. Their captivating journey is told through the sensational cast and the band’s hit songs like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “Oh, What a Night” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
At the Paris Las Vegas, the show features a slightly bigger stage and a more intimate theater experience than the Palazzo did for both the performers and the audience.
“There isn’t a balcony there so it feels just like one big orchestra section. The crowds have been great, and we can hear them a lot better on stage, which is nice for us,” said Graham Fenton who performs as Valli.
He started performing as an understudy with the Vegas cast when the show opened. From there he was promoted to performing as an alternate for the role of Valli in the touring version of “Jersey Boys.” He rejoined the Vegas cast in September 2011 in his current role.
Fenton said that playing the part of a famous artist who’s still living was both “daunting and intimidating at first.” For his audition he had to sing “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” while Valli and Guadio sat about 10 feet away from him watching and listening to his performance.
The show, which had a “dry run” of its initial tour several years ago at the Shubert, returns to the theater for a two-week engagement in New Haven, the first time in years the theater hosted a multi-week booking. Jersey Boys musical won the 2005 Tony for best musical in New York, a Grammy for the show recording, and in London got the 2008 Olivier for best musical. It’s toured the world, and the second U.S. tour, coming to Miller, has been on the road since late last year.
The tour’s Four Seasons, Brandon Andrus (Nick Massi), Brad Weinstock (Frankie Valli), Jason Kappus (Bob Gaudio) and Colby Foytik (Tommy DeVito), “are just stunning,” Gaudio said. “You feel like you’re actually watching these kids and this group’s story happen before your eyes. And you start rooting for them, even though you know what’s coming.”
“We’ve been on the road together now for three months and it’s just a solid company of people on and off the stage. That’s what makes it great,” said Colby Fotik, who plays Tommy DeVito.
This jukebox musical is certainly a feast for the eyes and ears. There are more than 400 conventual lighting units and a full sound system including 120 speakers. It’s just as much production backstage as it is on.
“The band, the amazing wardrobe department, the dressers that keep us doing quick changes, sometimes within 15 seconds, you know, the crew, lights, sound, everyone…it’s a huge effort behind the scenes to hopefully make us look as good as we’d like to think we look,” said Brad Weinstock, who is cast as Frankie Valli.
The story follows the forming, rise, and eventual break-up of the Four Seasons. Each act was actually separated into four seasons. And since this is based on a real band, there was a source of material to draw from.
“The first week was just basically the four of us in a room learning how to become this band, our version of this band,” said Jason Kappus, who plays Bob Gaudio.
And when portraying Frankie Valli, you certainly need a falsetto voice. It could come from natural talent, rehearsals, or something called “Frankie Camp.”
Cast members said Frankie Valli himself made an appearance during rehearsal one day.
“That was kind of a moment but he was really gracious and sweet, came around shook everyone’s hand, obviously was very much behind the show and excited about what we are doing,” said Weinstock. So if you’re into the nostalgic sounds of “Rag Doll” and “Walk Like a Man,”.
