Cleopatra Williams in Jersey Boys

Cleopatra Williams in Jersey Boys

Inside Toronto’s Danielle Milley has a feature on the newest addition to the Jersey Boys Toronto cast: Cleopatra Williams!

The East York native performed in We Will Rock You, danced with the Raptors Dance Pack, toured the Middle East with Toronto pop singer Massari and on April 22 she took to the Toronto Centre for the Arts stage in the story of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. Williams is one of three female performers in the cast who play a combined total of 50 different parts; one of her roles is Mary Delgado, Valli’s wife.

The East York Collegiate Institute graduate found out she got the job in February, but she had a hunch after her auditions.

“Of course I was so happy and grateful, but somehow I just knew it was mine,” she said. “I had this feeling.”

Travis Cloer & His Little Big Band will be performing this Sunday at The Clark County Library Theatre

Travis Cloer & His Little Big Band will be performing this Sunday at The Clark County Library Theatre! Jerry Fink spoke with Travis about his upcoming show:

Travis Cloer & Rick Faugno share playing the role of Frankie Valli in Vegas JERSEY BOYS. Actually, he and Faugno share more than the Valli role. Both are talented singers and dancers with strong desires to perform solo, in addition to performing in “Jersey Boys” at the Palazzo. For several months Faugno has been occasionally performing his one-man show, “Songs My Idols Sang (And Danced!)”, at South Point. Taking a cue from his fellow star, Cloer has dusted off a solo show he has performed off and on for the past five or six years.

When: 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23
Where: The Clark County Library Theatre, 1401 E. Flamingo Road (West of Maryland Parkway)

Men behind the ‘Jersey Boys’

“Jersey Boys,” the Broadway smash, pulls into the Providence Performing Arts Center this week for a monthlong run. The touring show, which is breaking box office records around the country, tells the story of ’60s pop music sensations Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. And it was written by a couple of guys who never guessed Valli and his crooners had a story to tell.

Writer Rick Elice was working as a creative consultant at Disney Studios when he got a call from a music promoter friend asking whether he’d consider writing a musical along the lines of “Mamma Mia!” but using the music of The Four Seasons. Pull together a bunch of Seasons songs to tell a story, came the suggestion.

“It was a nonstarter,” said Elice of the project. “It had been done before.” But Elice was willing to at least have lunch with Valli and fellow band member Bob Gaudio. What followed floored him.

Valli and Gaudio told tales of running with the Mob, of committing petty crime and doing time.

“It was fascinating,” said Elice from his office in New York. “I’d never heard or read any of these strange anecdotes. Music fans know all about the Stones and The Beatles, but no one knew about The Four Seasons. The stuff was not just interesting, it was untold.”

Had these stories gotten out in the 1960s, they would have probably ended Valli’s career, said Elice.

Jersey Boys at Venetian, Las Vegas

There’s nothing like a Las Vegas show to give you fabulous night of entertainment, and if you haven’t seen the long running and award winning Jersey Boys at the Venetian Hotel, you’re missing a night of fun.

Even if you’ve seen this production before, you’ll want to catch another performance. While essentially the same, there are a few minor differences, including a little upping of the risqué factor. The language is a little coarser, making it, some would argue, a little more authentic.

Location: Palazzo Theatre Venetian, Las Vegas

Dates & Times: Monday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday at 7 pm; Tuesday & Saturday at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Dark on Wednesday.

Tickets: Prices start around $65, plus tax and handling fees. There are a variety of promotion packages, room-ticket packages, and VIP seating options. You can purchase tickets for Jersey Boys online.
