Business is booming in the performing arts with record numbers of tickets sold for all the big summer shows. While music festival punters are being cautious, with no NSW summer festival selling out yet, musicals are luring record numbers.

“Over the past five to six years our audiences have doubled for musicals in Australia,” said super-producer John Frost of the Gordon Frost Organisation.

Jersey Boys, which opened last weekend, broke box-office records this week at the Theatre Royal, Sydney Australia selling more tickets than any other show in the theatre’s 34-year history, beating mega-musicals The Phantom Of The Opera, Cats and Les Miserables.

Tickets to the show, which traces the history of The Four Seasons and features many of the band’s hit songs, cost up to $165. The three-week season of the Australian Ballet’s The Nutcracker, which opens at the Sydney Opera House on December 3, is almost a sell-out.

Sydney, The wait is OVER. Jersey Boys is performing at Theatre Royal Sydney in Sydney, Australia. Buy your Jersey Boys Theatre Royal Sydney Tickets now.
