Jersey Boys Coming to Calgary, AB Canada in June 2012
Jersey Boys musical is coming to Calgary, Alberta Canada next year June 2012. Jersey Boys Canadian production starts performances at Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from June 28 to July 16, 2012.
Jersey Boys is presented in Canada by Dancap Productions Inc., a Toronto based company dedicated to producing and presenting the best of Broadway-style theatre in Canada.
Jersey Boys tells the rags-to-riches story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, who overcame tremendous odds to make it big in the early days of rock and roll. On Thursday night, four actors who have starred in various productions of Jersey Boys hit the stage at the Jubilee Auditorium to give invited guests a taste of the production. Along with the musical interlude, there was a Q&A session with the actors, some yummy appetizers and a brief talk from Aubrey Dan, founder of Dancap Productions. Aubrey and his wife Marla (who is from Alberta) have also left their marks on the country as philanthropists, donating more than $20 million to a variety of health and education charities. It was great to hear the passion in Aubrey’s voice Thursday night, as he talked about his desire to bring more theatre offerings to Canadians. That passion led Aubrey to start Dancap Productions in 2007, which resulted in a successful two-year run of Jersey Boys in Toronto (along with a variety of other plays along the way.) Now, he’s taking the show on the road and that means Calgary will host a touring production of Jersey Boys next summer. Info on the Calgary show and tickets.

The cast of Jersey Boys will be led by Preston Truman Boyd (Bob Gaudio), Joseph Leo Bwarie (returning to D.C. as Frankie Valli), John Gardiner (Tommy DeVito), and Michael Lomenda (Nick Massi) and as The Four Seasons, with Jonathan Hadley and Washington-area native, Joseph Siravo.

Jersey Boys East Lansing MI Review
Jersey Boys is playing now through October 16, 2011 at the Wharton Center Cobb Great Hall on the campus of Michigan State University. “Jersey Boys,” which won a Tony and a Grammy in 2006, tells the true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
The musical plays out a lot like a live version of VH1’s “Behind the Music.” While some audience members might come in prepared only to have fun — which “Jersey Boys” certainly delivers on — there is the surprising aspect of an interesting history lesson. Included in that history lesson are appearances by many of good ole Jersey folks who played a role in the Four Season’s success — including the now-famous actor Joe Pesci, who the audience learns introduced Bob Gaudio to Tommy DeVito back in the day, solidifying the original Four Seasons group.
Jersey Boys has lots of heart and personality. This kind of show could not succeed without great talent on the stage. And Jersey Boys has it. The four stars (Joseph Leo Bwarie, Michael Lomenda, Preston Truman Boyd, and Matt Bailey) actually sing much better than the originals (revealing my age here). The quartet is tight, crisp and amazingly in tune.
Especially impressive is Joseph Leo Bwarie who plays Valli himself. His voice is so clean, so crystal clear that he makes hitting the high notes in Four Season hits like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and so many others, seem effortless.
No additional songs were added, so the only music we hear are the ones we know so well (“Sherry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and more). The show is propelled as much by the intriguing story as it is by the spectacular singing of those gotta love ’em songs.

Jersey Boys Columbus Visit Has $14 Million Impact on Local Economy
The Columbus premiere of the Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Award-winning hit musical Jersey Boys entertained more than 50,000 patrons over its recent three-week engagement at the Ohio Theatre, generating an estimated $14 million in economic impact for the city of Columbus.
“The entire community benefits when Jersey Boys tours,” said Bill Conner, President and CEO of CAPA. “Having a production that well-loved and well-attended creates far-reaching, positive financial benefits for the local economy.”
Jersey Boys patrons contributed to local economic impact through peripheral spending on items such as dining, clothing, dry cleaning, child care, gas, or parking.
“Thanks to CAPA and Broadway Across America for bringing another premier production to Columbus,” said Jeff Mathes, owner of downtown’s Due Amici and Barrio restaurants. “In what would generally be a slow time for restaurants, August was a huge success for us. Jersey Boys was pure economic stimulus for downtown.”
Additionally, the production brought 15 trailers of sets, costumes, and special effects equipment to Columbus, as well as a cast and crew of 52 that were housed in local hotels, attended community attractions, and patronized area businesses such as dry cleaners, restaurants, grocery stores, and retail establishments. Jersey Boys also employed more than 100 local stagehands, hairdressers, and wardrobe assistants over the three-week run.
Jersey Boys concludes the 2010-11 Fifth Third Bank Broadway Series for CAPA and Broadway Across America. The 2011-12 Fifth Third Bank Broadway Series includes Shrek the Musical, Blue Man Group, Billy Elliot the Musical, West Side Story, and Memphis. Though not on subscription, Mamma Mia will play at the Palace Theatre December 13-18.

Jersey Boys Headed Back to Chicago for 9-week Begining April 5, 2012
Jersey Boys is coming back to Chicago. The current national tour of the hit musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has been booked for nine more weeks in Chicago, back at the Bank of America Theatre begining Thursday, April 5, 2012 and playing through Saturday, June 2, 2012.
The prior Chicago company of the show played here for more than two years and 951 performances during its premiere engagement here, which began in 2007 closed in Jan. 2010. The show is directed by Des McAnuff, with a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and music and lyrics by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe.
